Season ending episodes

I don't want much tv (mmmmmmm, yeah). Anyway, last week was the BIG May sweeps week, and here are my comments on shows that I watch.

24:
a disappointing season. It started so well, with Jack being tortured and brought back on a suicide mission. Highlight of the season was when Jack shot Curtis (his former partner) in the throat to save a terrorist. Towards the end, it was all about Jack and his nutso dad. Hopefully next season will be better.

Lost:
I got hooked on this show bad. Last season was iffy, at best. This season was a bit better. But the last two hours were very strong. Having the Jack-centric 'flash-foward' scenes was quite the twist. Now we know Jack and Kate get off the island. But we will have to wait until Jan 08 for new shows!

Heros:
This show is a bit goofy (wife hates it) and I basically watch it for the Asian guy that can a)stop time and b)travel in time. The last show was ok, but it looks like they 'killed' off a few main characters. What next?

CSI:
Sarah is stuck underneath a car! Will Grissom crack and let the secret (their relationship) out? Or will the bow-legged anti hero save her all by himself? Personally I want more focus on the hot red-headed cougar. Meow.

Law & Order: SVU
Didn't see all the episode, but it certainly left the viewer wondering what was going to happen the main characters. Fired? Retired? Transferred. I know Adam Beach will be a regular next year. Always liked this show.

That's it!

Summary of my week

I procrastinate. Each day thoughts (interesting to me) pop into my head, and I think, "Gee, that's something to put on my blog."

But alas, it has been over a week since I posted anything. To begin....

Monday was bulk garbage day on our street. So the 'crazies' were out Sunday night and early Monday morning, driving in their beat-up pickups, scanning the scene. What is the saying?: One man's garbage is another man's treasure.

Wife and I only put out our old computer chair. It wasn't long before the teenagers got at it and were wheeling themselves back and forth. I was SO hoping for a wheel to pop off, especially when I saw them poking around garbage and making a mess, breaking things. If they are going to be idiots, at least they should be rewarded like idiots. (then again, GWB is prez...!)

Subbed at elementary, jr & sr high this week. Elementary and Senior high was great. As for junior high, I earned every friggin' cent, and deserved more. It is scary the lack of moral fiber in most kids. Really, I am only 34 and I don't remember our generation being that bad. But at least I worked, and I need every day.

Played cards on Saturday. Good to have a game. Bad to be the first one out. Fun to have good cards and bet. Not so fun for another guy at the table to have better cards than you and wipe your stack out. But I may get a regular game out of it. Ah, how I miss Churchill. But not the weather.

Lastly, my courses. It is a bitch, with the weather getting better and the dog wanting to get outside more and more. Gonna be a long summer.

Junior High & Other Stuff

I subbed at a junior high school for 4 days this past week. Yes, I was visiting another planet. I'll call it planet Hormone.

The kids were fine, typical teenage behaviour and interests aka anything but school. ha With the long weekend coming and Grade 9 grad activities, writing notes from the board was the least of many concerns.

I don't know what they are feeding teenagers, but it ain't stunting growth. Yes, there were the token underdressed females, but I was more amused by height. I am about 6 foot, and I blended in with many of the Grade 9 students - including girls. If any of them wanted to 'take me out' it wouldn't be much of a problem. I don't think my "I'm a lover, not a fighter" mantra would save my ass.

Due to the increased subbing, I dropped one Masters course. So during this long weekend with wife working, I need to focus on my readings.......when the dog isn't seeking my attention for food & play.

When it rains, it pours

Well.

I previously complained about having TOO much free time. That is over. Now that my Masters courses have begun (and I already feel behind in my readings) the phone is ringing off the hook for subbing.

I'll get 4 out of 5 days this week, and turned down a couple of schools. Yes, this needs to keep going so I can build up my EI hours. Gonna be some late nights! No, I don't mean from watching NHL playoffs. Or do I? :)

Today I dropped by the annual 'Teacher Work Fair' to do the usual meet-and-greet. I saw my old high school Science teacher. I remember him giving me the creeps. The 57% I got in Chemistry was worth more to me than the 91% I received in Geography.

It's funny how you can still feel like a kid when you bump into your old teachers. I wonder if that will ever happen to a student I will teach?

The Madness Begins

Tomorrow my masters courses start again. At the moment I have signed up for three. Heck, I don't have anything planned for the summer, so why not spend it in my basement, glued to the computer?

Pro: if I stay with three and pass, I will have 7 out of 10 done! Whoa!
Con: no life. With wife. Or anything else.

I have already bought most of my textbooks. I spent over 100 bucks on the thinnest hardcover book you'll ever see. I can't wait to sell it to the next sucker.

Back to watching basketball, oops, I mean reviewing my texts for my courses.

From too little to too much

In the past month I have not been going to the gym. Or playing ball & ice hockey. Been lazy. But since last Tuesday I have had one game of ball hockey, and three games of ice hockey. To top things off, I subbed as a gym teacher for two days.

My legs are still jelly. In the hockey tournament I played in, I felt slow. Ok, slower than usual. At one point I actually gratefull our team was shorthanded - I got extra recovery time on the bench.

If I feel like this at 34.5, what will I be like when I am 40? Dead.....tired?

With summer coming, hopefully I will get a little bit of softball in along with a weekly run of ball hockey. Maybe I should just cancel my gym membership and just run the dog a couple of times a day!
